Got myself a 1940 BSA enfield seems to be all #'s matching no import marks no cracks or major damage. Bore is pristine

Cor! that is NICE a predispersal 1940 BSA MkIII with cutoff and a commercially marked barrel too - colour me envious - that would fill a nice gap in my rack!
Proofs would indicate it has been through the civilian gun trade in the UK too.
Very nice.

Excellent thank you guys, the story with this rifle is that it was brought back to US by my fathers good friends Dad.

What is the 12 on the troop disk mean? I figure the "38" is a rack stencil.
Barrel headspaces perfect and supposedly shoots great, from what my dads friend says.

Ill be checking it before i shoot it though. I went through it all last nite and cleaned it up lots of grime some pitting under rear handguard piece But overall a very very clean rifle. Now i just need the proper bayonet

At a guess, that could be a Terroritial Force County Association number
12 being the number for Bute
