Hello everyone,
I just purchased an 91/30 and was cleaning the rifle for the first time. I polished the chamber and when I looked at the chamber I noticed very small pits. Should I be cautious or is it okay? This is my first nagant, I currently have a yugo sks.

You may want to be a little cautious, but chances are that it's fine if they are small pits. If the pits are big, the problem will be cycling after shooting. You may experience extreme sticky-bolt and the rounds may not be easy to extract when they form to the pits. If they are small, shouldn't be too bad. I have a dragoon that has a lot of big pits in the chamber that deformed the cases and made it really hard to extract. You should be able to test fire it and examine the cases to see if they are deformed. You may not notice any problems, but a gunsmith could give a second opinion.
