A sling, belt, a piece of equipment strap, or rope...they are all used on japanese rifles...nobody knows for certain which is correct, unless you have a picture of a soldier holding a rifle...then it would be correct for that rifle with that serial number...because he put it on the rifle... Just imho

ebay must be lightening up, letting him leave that picture of the nasty, mean rifle in the auction. Years ago when I was selling slings on ebay, they kept kicking me off for having a rifle in the auction to show how the sling looked. Closed my selling account and haven't been back; guess I got even!:p

I bought the same style sling in the same condition off ebay a couple days prior and I payed $290 in a "buy it now" auction and I thought I payed too much { I used my ebay bucks} , I feel better now. Shows if you present it right and two people with money want it bad enough, you can be a rich man. Isn't there some pictures out there with this sling on a type 38 ?

yes, these are indeed period photographed on type 38 rifles. i purchased my mint example off of a nagoya no series 99 short that had the stock refinished. the metal matched the sling in condition, but the stock was a mess so i offered to give the guy $150 for the sling (he was only asking $190 for the rifle with sling, but i really didn't want another messed with rifle to sell off). at first the dealer was hesitant to sell the sling as he told me thats what sells the rifle. then i made him the $150 cash offer, and he nearly jumped over the table to give it to me!

that aside, these are also associated with the type 2 rifle as a Q-D type sling. not sure if it is more correct for any type of rifle, as it serves the same purpose on all of them. i don't really think there is just one type of sling for any rifle once WWII was in full swing

I saw one of these attached to a rusted up early type 38 at a show once. The rifle was junk. I figured let me ask the seller what the price was for the complete rifle/sling combo. The sling was nice but dirty. He told me the "sling" is 300.00 and you get a free rifle with it. LOL

In original photos, these slings show up on Type 38 rifles and on one T-99 long rifle. Anything else is speculation until some more documentation comes along

eBay must of wised up and figured out they were missing out of higher revenues from such sale items. They seem to be allowing other gun accessories to be sold that were previouly banned.

You may be correct; ebay sales performance has not been so great lately; pay pal has been "carrying" the company performance.
