Looks like the stocks are held together with strapping tape. Maybe they've hit the ground a few times!

Nope, they are Russian. I have the identical style hat and arm patch mere meters away from me that I obtained in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, mere weeks ago.

The arm patch is the post-Soviet Two Headed Russian eagle. The left claw holds a dagger, and the right claw a wreath. In the centre of the eagle USUALLy is a red area with a lancer.

Post-Soviet era Russia returned to QUITE imperial style insignia and flags.

Hmmmm...

Those Rooskies look a wee bit nervous, dont you think?

I can hear Mammooshka say (in Russian, of course);
"You're gonna put an eye out playing with those things!"

As well indeed they might!

I suspect that if you put them up against the USMC Drill Team they would come off looking rather sorry indeed!

Practice rifles. When I was NROTC a thousand years ago, we had "training" weapons and "competition" weapons. We Tru Oil'd the crap out of the competition weapons, and only used them three or four times per year.
