So i keep thinking about the prototype sks that was in 7.62x45r with a 5 round mag. How much work would it be to make one out a sks like a m59/66?

I would think quite a bit. The 7.62x54 is rimmed.. the 7.62x39 is not.
New chamber
Magazine (case, follower spring)
Lengthened action
Stronger extractor
Larger bolt head for the rimmed round
Bolt spring
Modified stock

Then you have the whole bolt timing issue..

Of course..you could just ream a 59 out!

I don't think it is possible due to action length. the action would have to be cut and then rewelded/lengthened. Would run into several thousnd dollars for sure.

remember, this gun is a cut-down version of a 14.5mm anti-tank gun, which is in turn a cut-down version of a 20mm anti-aircraft gun!!!!
