It happens. I've only seen it on refurb Mosins, though. I have an m38 that I can twist the entire rear sight mount from one side to the other.

Thats what I explained to you last night but that case was a lot worse that what you have.

Hello,

The front sight ring and post on my M44 seems to be tipped a bit to the left on my example.

I'm wondering if this is common on these rifles? I'm figuring it is, given wartime production and Russian manufacture.

Called a canted sight. If you can shoot it with any aim adjustments necessary, leave it alone. These were meant to hit center mass, not the X (although they often can).
