Can anyone tell me what kind of sight hoods these are. They look like
standard 98k hoods with a slot cut in the middle and down both sides.
(pics a little blurry). What country used these? Maybe post war use
by some Combloc country? I've had these in my parts box for about
25 years and I was always curious about them.

Not Israeli. Isreaeli's modified or NEW MADE thier hoods by drilling 2 holes for a pin that prevented removal of the hood.

I have seen these before - I think it was on an SMG.

I'd like to see what the sight picture looks like with one installed. The light could help and the hood can protect for the most part. Most people dont get rough on the sight if they can help it. I bet a bunch of hoods were lost or removed because the soldier was used to the early set up with-out a hood. I have several that were not cut for a hood and the sight is still staked in where it was at the factory not beat up either. All The best. Sunfish
