Gianni, I read Italian well enough (can't speak it beyond getting directions and food and drink....) to see that this event sounds like some serious fun! Wish I could bring my Bernadelli-made 1920 dated 1889 Bodeo and compete in the fixed-sight revolver competition!

I know you're very distant from here, but I'd like to let you know that we love to shoot with 1889 Bodeo.
Ciao. Gianni

We made a couple of days ago some photos of our bodeos.
You can find them here:
http://www.tsnlaspezia.191.it/
just go in "photo gallery" then in "Incontro fra "vecchie signore", 24/06/2007".
Hope you'll like them.

thanks, Francesco - that's what I thought it was.

I got my '89 mainly because I'm a fan of Bernardelli double shotguns, but I have come to admire it for it's ruggedness, good workmanship, and accuracy with modern (Fiocchi)ammo and reloads.

There were better handguns around by the time my Bernardelli '89 was made in 1920, but it was probably fine for its purpose as a police sidearm. The '89, like our Colt single action revolvers, soldiered on for a long, long time after it was apparently "obsolete". I suspect the troops and police just liked the reliability of the gun, and distrusted the new-fangled automatics. Actually, I still feel the same way--for self-defense, I prefer a revolver. They go "bang" when you need them to.
