I have shipped several, all USPS,

boxed, after wrapping securely, and taped up nicely etc etc,

print postage from home, including insurance, and drop off at post office,

if asked, I'll say I'm shipping an antique, but have not been asked yet,

Send it Priority Mail..comes with tracking..Insure it and dont forget to remove and package carefully the bolt

Most often when these break its at the wrist..pack well in a sturdy box

I have very good luck with the Post Office..they have broken one coming to me however..Bolt Matching Turk
(Turked) Commission rifle..pisser but the stock had been refinished anyway and that had not been disclosed to me at point of sale..had mixed emotions on that but another stock was easily located since the Turks did not number them

If you're really worried about the gun arriving safely, take a rectangle of scrap cardboard and wrap it around the wrist before putting it in the box. Bubble wrap the whole thing and put a can like a tuna can over the muzzle so it won't push through.
