And while nwellons poses this questions, I'd like to pose another. How about hearing from SCW Mauser or other rifle owners. Any scrubbed or removed marks on them that are known to have been done during or for the SCW?

I know most of the Polish Mausers was scrubbed of all receiver markings. The German's it seemed used the commercial Mauser mark on a lot of Nationalist aid weapon's sent to Spain during the conflict. This is only from what I have read and heard about from other arms collectors. So this is not my area of expertise as mine is turn of the century 1899 to today Russian arms.
