Like most pocket pistols of the era, they do not lock open on an empty magazine.

Just a precaution. Be sure the safety works before you buy it.

The safety relies upon a pretty lightweight pin that needs to fit into a hole on the safety lever to engage it, and that pin sometimes is broken off. The replacemrnt part is sometimes hard to find.

If you don't check the safety, you will have no idea or indication that the safety doesn't work until you might find you need it.

Edit. the pin that breaks off is prt of a rectangular bar that sits inside a groove that runs between the trigger and the 'firing assembly'. The whole bar can be missing and some people might ever know it, as there are a number of exploded views of this pistol that don't even show the part.
