S&W model 36 Chief's Special with 3" in barrel ,whats the year of Manufacture?

anybody have any info when my S&W model 36-1 was made? DOB

the barrel length is 3" inches

An aside to your question which has been answered.
The 3" barrel Chief Special is considerably less common than the 2" model. Within this length, there were both standard and also "heavy barrel" configurations. (The latter configuration seemingly somewhat counter intuitive in a small lightweight handgun.) A personal opinion that the normal weigh 3" barrel model is somewhat more collectible. There were also round and so-called "square butt" configurations (the latter not a true square butt but something of a blend between configurations). In the 3" barrel length, the round butt configuration is not documented in the seminal "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson", but did exist as a production variation. Likely more an editorial oversight rather than some especially rare variation.A photo of one below.

the barrel on my pistol appears to be the standard weight 3" barrel and has the squared grip, it feels light and handy
