I want to pick up a new .22 handgun. What I do know is it will be a Ruger, what I dont know is...

Single Six, MKIII, or Charger? All very different, but I just am having trouble choosing.

What are your thoughts on the 3?

I guess what you have to first ask yourself is what would you rather have. A revolver or a pistol. Ruger makes fine handguns and you won't go wrong with either choice.
I have an old H&R 22lr revolver that I reblued and it is a good little plinker. Have another I want to rebuild that is just parts. Have a Ruger 10/22 and would love to get a Single Six to match. Or a MKII. Not familiar with the Charger.
Love those old wheel guns though.

Thats what I cannot decide

I have several .22 revolvers, and no .22 pistols. I really think I would like a pistol... Yet, I am really drawn to the Single Six and know I am going to end up with one no matter what other .22s I get, lol.

So, guess I am just looking to hear pros and cons from others

I've had my Ruger MK I for over 30 years, and a Single Six for almost as long.

Both have had thousands of rounds cycled thru them & both still perform as new.

The Mk I has since been superceded by the Mk II & III, & all are very accurate,

The Single Six came with an extra cylinder for .22 Mag. Although the mag gives enough more punch than .22 LR to drop jackrabbits in their tracks,
I don't use it much more than for .22 LR plinking & for carry while out bird hunting.

Both are excellent handguns. I'd be hard pressed to give up either one, but the Mk I is more accurate, hands down..

Agreed on all counts. I too own multiples of the Ruger .22 autos and consider them fantastic pistols. I too also own a Single Six and very much like it. I also own and really like my 1960s Ruger Bearcat perhaps more than the Single Six. The only real advantage I can see (over personal preference) that the revolvers have is the ability to fire any of the .22 ammo (shorts, longs, long rifle, etc) you might encounter. The Ruger .22 autos, on the other hand make an excellent training piece for larger self-defense auto and can be successfully suppressed if that is an option for you.
