Our local "liberal"/"progressive"/socialist rag printed an article on Ron Paul 2 days ago that I thought was pretty fair, if not in depth. But this morning the Letters to the Editor section was full of protests by apparently sane people that said rag had smeared Ron Paul, accusing him of having radical views they disputed.

I checked with the Ron Paul 2008 website for the first time in months and, lo and behold, all the nuttier gold standard, drug legalization, head in sand isolationist policies were fuzzed up or missing. Too bad I didn't download a copy of some of his earlier stuff for a direct comparison but it's pretty obvious what he's been doing to fool the voters. Only a few traces remain on his congressional website, not the campaign website:

"He also was a key member of the Gold Commission, advocating a return to a gold standard for our currency."

"Dr. Paul is the author of several books, including Challenge to Liberty; The Case for Gold; and A Republic, If You Can Keep It. He has been a distinguished counselor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute"

That's just one of the issues, Paul's plan to wreck the US economy, cause massive deflation and a depression, and throw us on the mercy of commodity speculators in gold.

Another one of Paul's plans on his congressional website is to make Saudi Arabia and Pakistan our enemies, also a favorite of far left Democrats. Not in accord with avoiding foreign entanglements but who cares about consistency anyway?

Legalize drugs? I haven't been able to find that on his campaign website, or recent congressional issues statements. Another nutcase idea buried.

You think that Paul is going to lead you back to a simpler, trouble free America? No political squirming and lying? No 2 faced political chicanery? No foreign wars? No debt, no inflation, no taxes? Better think again.

Paul's a liar of no more moral authority or principles than the worst of the other candidates, but with very dangerous ideas on economics and defence/foreign affairs.

Paul is a politician first.

Second, he is running as a Republican, so at best he is hoping to be converting his crazy lib line to the Republican party line.

As I have written before, he will automatically have become a "sell out" and will loose his base in the unlikely event that he receives the blessing of the Republican party.

Whats funny is that you support a President that promotes socialism. Laf

Too bad I didn't download a copy of some of his earlier stuff for a direct comparison but it's pretty obvious what he's been doing to fool the voters.
Oh please, more baseless attacks on his character. You can't combat the substance of what he is saying you so attack him.

You can't prove that will cause a depression. Thats just sheer stupidity on your part. Way to support the establishment that's been screwing you the past 50 years.

BTW, thanks to our wonderful central banking system; women have been forced from the home(due to standard of living decrease), the value of the dollar today is 4 cents from what it was in 1913, the purchasing power of the dollar has fallen dramatically-this hurts the middle class and the poor.

Another one of Paul's plans on his congressional website is to make Saudi Arabia and Pakistan our enemies, also a favorite of far left Democrats. Not in accord with avoiding foreign entanglements but who cares about consistency anyway?
Now we are friends with dicatorships? Man, news to me. I thought we promoted democracy? Oh thats right, only when it vaguely justifies our invasion and occupation of a country with the world's largest oil reserves.

Legalize drugs? I haven't been able to find that on his campaign website, or recent congressional issues statements. Another nutcase idea buried.
It isn't legalize drugs, its End the War on Drugs. Let the states decide how to handle the issue. If you think the war on drugs has been a success then you might want to check back to reality for a moment.

Nope, but he certainly will be able to begin reversing the trend.
You're basically saying that "ok yea we've been screwed all of our lives but we should just give up hope and bend over and keep taking it"
Thats a real pathetic stance.

Paul's a liar of no more moral authority or principles than the worst of the other candidates, but with very dangerous ideas on economics and defence/foreign affairs.
Oh please, you just love wallowing in your own ignorance. You have no perception or understanding of his views. You endorse the current welfare-warfare state, the one that has been screwing you all your life.

Paul said the same things in 1988 as he does today.

Seems that consistency or honesty isn't want you want jjk.

I still have yet to see your claim of how he "pulled a Hillary".

Looks to me like Obama, Romney, Rudy, Thompson, McCain, Edwards have all "pulled a Hillary", if what you are trying to say is that Hillary is a professional liar.

I'd say 4000 babies is an accomplishment as an OB-GYN. I think you're jealous Clyde. Obviously the man has more accomplishments than you do; as an ex-lawyer you make some of the worse arguments I've ever seen. Were you a public defender?

There's an insult. Not bad. Not noble, or in keeping with your own standards, but hey, nice to know you can sling muck like any other troll.

Typical Liberaltarian polemics from MB48 - First he says what I stand for, regardless of the facts, then twists around the Ron Paul ideology, claiming its A., not insane and B., hasn't been changed or hidden from the poor naive fools who plan to vote for him.

I reiterate:
Paul wants to destroy the American economy by returning to a monetary system that failed because he believes in the Austrian School of Economics, a crazy ideology that rejects the scientific method in favor of airy, unfounded theorizing.
Paul wants to legalize drugs even though that is the equivalent of legalizing slavery.
Paul wants to make enemies of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, contrary to the best interests of the USA, and for no benefit whatsoever.

All this is fully documented.

And Paul does not mention it in his presidential campaign website, also fully documented.

Ah, MB - somebody else did all the hard work for those 4000 babies. All Doctor Paul did was help Nature along a bit when the time came.

You'd have to ask some of the several hundred juries i was in front of how my arguments were.

You are utterly and completely full of crap. Thats all that needs to be said it response to that.

Because free market capitalism is such a looney thing and has never been tested..

Paul wants to legalize drugs even though that is the equivalent of legalizing slavery.
WTF?? Are you insane? You are sounding batsh*t crazy comparing drugs with slavery.

Paul wants to make enemies of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, contrary to the best interests of the USA, and for no benefit whatsoever.
pssst They are our enemies. Last time I checked they fund terrorism and don't promote democracy. Pakistan is protecting Bin laden, Saudi Arabia is funding the sunni insurgency and building madrassa schools.

jjk, you've pretty much fully affirmed that you're completely nuts. I need to print this off and show it to my friends, professors and regular strangers and watch them roll on the floor laughing.

JJK/Clyde, you have to remember, you're dealing with a child in MB. Talk in small sentences, or he will use his potty-mouth words or call you Mr. Smarty Pants. With adolescents like MB in his political corner, Ron Paul will be back in the operating room in no time.

There is that, Stu. But reading an MB post is useful. Like what an attorney of my acquaintance once said about having docket call. Said he really liked going to court, got him up and moving, like having a hot, soapy enema...

All hail ret_marine2003's "Marxian" ideology!

Thanks, MB, for your outstanding support for the real Republicans. Keep it up. You and your fellow Ronulans will succeed in getting Ron Paul well below the 1% mark, so please feel free to make "Don't Tase Me, Bro!" your slogan.

Guess Who Crazy Tasered Guy Supports for President?

Andrew Meyer: He's crazy. He's obnoxious. He has no idea how insane he looks to everyone. Who could someone like that support for presidency?

Ron Paul? No way!

Ron Paul's supporters say Ron Paul is not an insane conspiracy theorist, yet someone how every single crazy person out there supports Ron Paul. If when trying to describe you people turn to a DSM-IV, you're probably a Ron Paul supporter. So is Ron Paul to the mentally deranged what Aquaman is to fish or something? When he finally gives up his pointless candidacy, will he command the crazy people against us?

Something to think about.
