I've heard a lot of good things about rock island 1911s, despite their low price points, and I'd like to get a 1911 eventually. I'm not so hot into the .45 ACP, in part due to expense and in part due to the fact I've got nearly every pistol i own either in 9mm or convertible to 9mm (7.62x25 pistols I have/can get barrels for, but 7.62x25 is so much cheaper still) which makes ammo hoarding so much easier. So lucky for me, i looked at Armscor's website and they make a single stack 9mm 1911. The problem is I can't find anyone online who sells them. I'm pretty sure Centerfire systems has every Armscor product except for the 1911 9mm. Are these 9mm 1911s even being imported in to the country? I'll probably end up shooting magnus an email over at centerfire to see if he knows anything about this gun, but I'd also like to pose a question to our online community: Is there any place currently to get a Rock Island 9mm 1911?

Unfortunately the RI 9mms are an EEA Witness, steel or polymer framed, not a 1911 and I know nothing else about it.

Armscor makes a 1911 in 9mm, and in .40, but apparently Armscor USA doesn't import them any more.

If i were you I'd bite the bullet, so to speak, and get a 45 RIA. Their tactical model 1911 has had very good reviews but I've fallen in love with the RI Match at $560, worked up by their custom shop. it seems to be just as good and finely fitted as anything anyone else produces for 2 to 3 times the price! With the money you save you can buy lots of .45 ammo or reloading gear.

Answers my question on whether they are imported or not anymore. I still don't want to get the .45. However, they did use the key word with .45's for me, S&W Doug Koenig, because i had an opportunity to fire one of those at a rental range. Simply amazing, best pistol i ever fired, excellent grip and sights (until we try my dad's christmas present tomorrow, beretta 92fs). So thanks for the review.

I am interested in the same thing eventually. The star B I got from aim was horribly unreliable, so I will stay away from that. Might eventually pick up another super, if I find a good deal on one. Like you, I like the 1911, just not the .45. I want a plain jane 1911a1 in 9mm. Basically a repro GI 1911 in 9mm.

Just hard to find.....

From what i hear the 9x19 stars aren't the best. Especially when i'm sinking that kind of money into them (I'm on a lower price point than most any people here) Ironic how hard it is to find a 9mm 1911, thinking how common the desire for one of those would be.

Well it depends on if you are looking for a full size 1911 in 9mm or compact and if it has to be a true 1911. If you don't mind a heavy all steel compact pistol look at the Firestar M43. I know the Firestar isn't a true 1911 but they are close to it. I have 2 Firestar pistols (9mm and .40) and they are very accurate and reliable. I thought that I would mention the Firestar as an option. Here is a picture of my Firestar pistols, .40 on the left and 9mm on the right.
