I'm trying to switch out the FCG on an AMD-65 but, the builder used the "C" type clips to secure the hammer and trigger axis pins instead of the shepherd's hook. Is there a trick to getting these things out? I've tried grabbing them with needle nose pliers but I can't get a good enough hold on the little things.

+1., the best FCG tool. Pull "C" clips, lift the hammer spring off the trigger bars, position the shepherds hook for install, move hammer spring for clearance. Cheap and a great tool.

i use a pair of hemostats. Works great for installing them also. I also prefer the L shaped crook to either standard shepards hook or c clips

small magnetic screw driver works good also

I tried hemos and a small screwdriver but I'll try them again. A dental pick would definitely come in handy.

Dental pick is easier to get a hold of than one might think .Many hardware stores carry them.I think I got mine at harbor freight

This what I've always used. And BTW they should be E clips not C

Tried the little clips. and little hitch pins. Went back to the shepherds crook because I couldn't get ones in the right wire guage to keep everything from being loose.

Yeah now that I've got 'em out, they do look more like "E"s than "C"s.
