I have a venezuelain 7mm FN49 I want to remove the brake and was wondering before I start if it right or left hand thread?

It's standard right-hand thread. The proper tool for removal or installation is a pin-type spanner wrench - illustrated in the below photo.



I'm curious - why would you want to remove your brake ?

One of those tools came with my Vennie.

It's the same one that you use to adjust the gas with.

Mine shoots quite well as - is, so I never felt a need to mess with it.

Goose; didn't CUTTS Compensator make those muzzle brakes for the Vennies?

Nope - made by FN and offered as an option on all contracts. Only Venezuela selected the brake for all their rifles. Egypt bought brakes from FN and installed them on their very few sniper rifles around 1955 or so. There is no other known use of the FN brake.
