I've got a broken rear sight leaf spring on one of my AK's now. (Don't ask....)

How much trouble is it to remove the rear sight base? It looks like there is a small pin to tap out. Is that correct?

Can I remove the sight base after I rivet the new receiver in place?

Thanks for the help!

You'll have to strip the barrel to get the sight base off. You may need to get creative, drill and tap for a spring screw.

Can the spring be replaced without removing the sight base? It looks to me like you have to take the sight base off. What do you say?
