I don't know if it's still in effect, but in the nineties that was the one round that was taboo for importation from the former USSR. Both russia and Ukraine fall into that category. Maybe the Romanian version of RSA can make it though. This ammo is both made in Ukraine, Bosnia, and Romania. for Century. Wolf, the Bears, Golden Tiger, etc have never released that caliber.

It won't be a bargain when it is finally released anyway.
Maybe not , but a readily available supply of Tok ammo would be nice. Whose knows they may go steel case and bust it out at $15 a box. Think positive.

To dream of a 50 box of pistol ammo for just $15.00 shows just how the regime's policies have taken hold. I'm at the end on my Chicom stash that I paid $4/70 box for back in 96. This summer I'll have to dip into my Romy stash that I paid $7/70 box back in 2004. After that...I'm reloading!

Agreed. Supply and demand set the price and gun owners own panic and hoarding have caused higher prices and shortages. I still think newly mfg. non-corrosive 7.62 Tok. ammo, sold at current 9mm prices ($15) is more than acceptable in today's market. Yah, I remember getting the surplus dirt cheap, even the old Norinco ammo for $5 a box . But I also remember $ .89 gas and $1.50 gallon of milk. It's called inflation.
Now back on topic, any word from R.A.S. ?

A lot to do with "regime polices". Clinton banned cheap new manufacture lead core 7.62x25 from China in May 1994 and also banned any Russian imports of 7.62x25 ammo via a Russian trade agreement a couple of years later.
There are also millions of rounds of surplus 7.62x25 overseas, but it is not importable because of the political ban on iron core pistol bullets.
According to Bryan at AIM on the AR15 dealer forum there is plenty of 7.25x25 overseas, but not importable because of the iron core.
Bryan is not correct. There was some Czech production with a mild steel core, and the Soviets produced some during the last couple of years of significant production. However, all Polish, Hungarian, Yugoslav, Bulgarian, Romanian, North Korean, and pre-1990s Chinese, as well as most Czech and Russian 7.62 Tokarev ammo was made with lead cores.
If you subtract the Soviet and Chinese surplus that is not importable for other reasons, there should be more surplus out there, but who knows.......we may have gotten it all.

Norinco was a nice bang for the buck back in the late 80's early 90's. Yellow box .223 was a great deal at the time.
