Re-barrel M-N
Please read ....then re-read the reply by CLARK. Then add a $ after each step. If you are not capable of doing the work for free then you will PAY for someone to do it for you.
Many (most, even) M-N barrels seem stuck and the removal process invariably damages the barrel or action. "IF" you are successful at removing a barrel and end up with a good action then put on a good barrel in 7.62x54R or a custom wildcat of your choice. You may end up with the worlds ugliest rifle in the caliber of your choice, and an empty wallet. Some guys are using modified Remington 700 barrels, since the threads nearly fit.
I been told it might be a good idea to spend your money on a choice M-N and have something to brag about than to have cash tied up in a "money-pit" project. BUT, if you have the fever like me, and many others, there ain't no cure and the learning curve hasn't been invented that will convince me otherwise.
Cheers,
