In the 6 years that I have been involved in this Forum, I have never read of any reference to such a critter.

Got the pics of it. He talks it up in the description, but the pics don't give enough detail to determine who did the mounts. If he had a detailed pic of the mount, then maybe we could tell. Also, the bolt handle has been bent. I do like the tiger striping on the handguard, though.

BTW - I Googled "FR8 Sniper" and the auction was the only site that came up listing an FR8 sniper rifle. If Jorge is still around, maybe he could give us some info as to if these were actually done by the Spanish military.

well its being sold by Shari71... a long-standing member here and at Cetmerifles.com. He's no fool, so it makes me believe that its not a bubba rifle. I would like to see some kind of proff of what it is somehow, but if its so rare that thats unproduceable, who knows.

FR-8 sniper

The photo is not very good but the scope base on the receiver ring sure looks like a plain old Weaver base.

The mounts seem to be current issue weavers as pointed out. without detailed pictures of the mounts, holes and the demensions of the holes one cannot say.

That is real If you look at the original Mars Cetme You will see that it has the same mounts on it.

When the last batch of FR-8s came through, that was maybe 5 years ago, there were a number of them that had bent bolts.....can't recall anything about mounts or signs of them....I remember that "Shooter's Discount", in Arbutus, MD (now in Mt Airy, MD) had a number of them....I remember seeing them at shows where he had a booth and in his shop.

Its the same one, and from all I can tell especially after seeing the pics of he one in the museum... it aint no bubba job.

Id certainly buy it if I had the cash. Itd be a great one to have for later if some information ever surfaced about it.

Hey Guys, Sorry I don't get around here much anymore, I do check in from time to time.
I really hate to sell this rifle it was the last one to go, (besides my CETME), but we just moved and bought a new house, so It's time to start thinning the heard.

Not much is known about this rifle that's for sure, the picture above with the four different angles is exactlly like mine, it's not mine, but the mounts are the same(so at least two exsist). The other pics I have of the rifles in the museums are similar, but the mounts are just welded on(some not very well) I have been told, (I think it was by Jorge) that these rifles were made up by the Gaurdia Civil for the bomb squad to detonate bombs?

Taverndog is right the mounts look just like the MARS CETME bases, and a weaver will fit on the front, the rear base is wider, plus with the rear sight built in, its hard to find a ring to fit and clear a scope.

I think down the road it will be worth quite a bit with the way FR-8 prices are going up, if you could find the original scope or rings it would be worth a lot.

Here are the dimensions, I did this to try and find a repo set of rings made, I went off of the pics from the museums and the measurments of the rifle, I found a set of rings on ebay that look like they would fit and copied the design.
