This came with an austrian model 1844 kammerbuchse converted to shotgun. Has numbers stamped into it so was wondering if this could have come with some other firearm or a home made type thing? It is 33 inches overall length.

The nature of the numbers definitely looks like unit marking to me. That's where I would look, try to work out the abbreviations and go from there. There's gotta be a more active forum somewhere that someone would recognize this rod.

Have the question posted in other areas as well. I would do as suggested but I have no idea where to start. That's why I'm posting where someone might know.

The shape and hole near the end is very similar to the ramrod on the Austrian Lorenz musket. The tip on the Lorenz was brass. Given the similarities and your note that it's from an Austrian firearm, it could be original to your gun.
