Yes, I agree- do some images of both but especially the "S" receiver (and whatever else is attached and original)?

Do a better set of pictures of the receiver? It is odd certainly but Spandau & sterngewehr are both two words that "odd" is normal.
No Arsenal or commercial firm had a more varied production run of variations- from 1915-1918 it is the most well know for oddities and things that aren't understood.
