Questions about a Japanese Navy bayonet.

Hello all, A co-worker found this bayonet and frog while helping clean out a deceased neighbors house and today it came home with me.(sometimes it helps being a known milsurp junkie). I've already identified it as IJN issue due to the "rocking star" stamp but have never seen one with this type of scabbard and frog. Would this bayonet be correct for my Type I Carcano Naval rifle? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Bayonet is in good shape, frog is made of what looks like some sort of ceramic with rubber inside. One of the belt loops is cracked unfortunately.

The rocking star stamp.

Kanji still legible, anyone know what it says?

Looks liked the correct rubberized canvas scabbard with the frog molded into it. These are not commonly found compared to the more common steel scabbards.

The kanji is probably the guys 1st/last name who carried this. Hopefully somebody can translate it for you.
Uncommon bayonet in correct scabbard. Worth several hundred dollars.
To SSG,I believe the Navy bayonets are the only ones that had whats called a "false edge".That is a portion of the top of the blade is also sharpened. Also,
many of the rocking star bayonets were trainers. If you find a rubber scabbard, they often have the wrong bayonet.Yours is correct.Nice piece.Lance
You can try it on a type I but don't be surprised if the fit is off. Navy special type 99s might be better suited. Is your blade painted black too?

I did attach it to my Type I and it fit just fine, I'm more concerned about whether a late war bayonet would be correct for Type I's since they reached Japan very early in the war. The blade does appear to be painted black, I will check again when I get home from work.
There's a period photo somewhere (Fred's book or Larry Johnson's?) of a bunch of navy soldiers drilling with type I's that have bright blade variation C bayonets on them
