You need to show us photos of your stock . Not easy to make a judgement without photos .

How can you tell the difference between a maple vs a beech stock? I have a beech m38 and its clear as day a beech stock, however the m96 I got doesnt even look similiar. looks closer to that wood on the first rifle here, http://dutchman.rebooty.com/maple.html

All beech does not look alike . Often confused with Elm . Your stock looks like beech to me . Hard to say for sure ?
