At the "Big" Reno show there was an all matching Kar 98k marked SWP45 on the receiver. It had some of the late features including no bayonet lug. All the metal parts matched and the seller claimed the stock also matched. It was in overall excellent condition. That is the good news. The bad news was the asking price was $3000! I know that rifles marked SWP45 are difficult to find, but have prices reached to that level?

Yes, for original rifles. The stock would not match because it is not supposed to be numbered. An original SWP 45 in excellent condition could go to that level, but what is more likely is it was a post-war rifle: most dealers cannot tell the difference or hope you can't. The post war rifles have the boxing lions on the left side of the receiver. An original rifle will have the Nazi eagles.
