This morning I saw a m38 and a post war m44 ( refurb. rifles) with the SN stamped on the left side of the stock.

Were did the Soviet marked the stocks in this way? During refurb. works?

I don't think that such marks make a "rare" rifle, but I think that is not so common.Isn't it?

Thanks in Advance.

I think this was done later in the Soviet rework system and it is not too common but I think rare would be the wrong word. Why it was done to just some is unknown but that is the case.
