I picked up A No. 4 Mk1 with an unusual rear fully adjustable sight. It appears to be a modification of the original milled Micrometer sight. This one has a rotating disc aperture with 6 holes in it. The fixed flip ghost sight has been removed. The pin that holds the rear sight on has been replaced with a threaded screw that allows the rear sight to move left and right.

Is this an original military target sight or a commercial modification of the original military sight?

Sad to say that is not an original sight. It is for a war office .22 calibre training rifle that is not a Lee enfield. You will find that the right sight mounting ear has been enlarged to accomodate the windage adjustment, so the original sight or one of it's variations will no longer work. Gunparts inc has been flogging them off as enfield sights.
For all that, it does work.
