Quick question - does anyone know what bayonet Peru issued with the Modelo Argentino 1891 rifles they bought from DWM? These are the rifles Peru bought which are identical to the Argentine 1891, but with Peruvian receiver crest. Many (most?) later upgraded for the Lange-Visier sight.

Were they issued wit hthe standard argentine bayonet, or something else?

Bayonets were the same used by the Argentinian '91s, even with the original contract Argie crest on them, unlike the rifles that were either re-stamped with Peruvian crests, or originally stamped with them (Also stocks & handguards show a small "R*P" -República Peruana- oval stamp). Even the small carbines lot we bought still had the original Argentinian crest.

Finding a matching bayonet/scabbard set for your Peruvian would be ultra-hard if not impossible. If you want to get as closest as possible, look for any in the S, T, U or W range.

So far I've not observed over here any bayonet with the brass grip set, only aluminum.

Both my non-matching-to-the-rifles but correct batch 1891 bayonets show the Argentinian crest.

Most 1891s were upgraded with new Sig barrels, "Lange" sights and handguards; only a handful survived in original condition (Both mine did).

I've only seen one complete, 100% original, mint and as-issued 1891 (Including muzzle cap, matching bayo/scabbard, cleaning rod, sling and a couple of old cardboard boxes of German-made round-nosed ammo); it was for sale and unfortunately my stupid cheap stubbornness made me lost it (Lessons are better learned the hard way). Due to the overall condition, I assumed the old but nice sling it had should have been the original one, a plain rather thick brown leather sling with a "polished" side and a "rough" reverse, equipped with what appeard to be a brass belt buckle and steel buttons; don't know how an Argentinian sling looks like, but this particular one looked like the real deal to me.

After reading that, I had to run and check the serial number on the aluminum handle M1891 Argentine bayonet I put with my M1891 Peruvian rifle. Too bad, the bayonet is G block and the scabbard is E block. Close enough for my purposes, I guess.

Yesterday I picked up my Mauser Original M1909 Peruvian long rifle. I had already received the correct bayonet with Peruvian crest from Ebay. Will post photos after I get it cleaned up and put a sling and M1908 cleaning rod on it.
