Does anyone have a 586 no dash revolver? I just purchased a beauty and am interested in the opinions of you that have had them for a while.

I didn't own one, but as far as workmanship, materials (all forged parts) and quality of blued finish, the 586 was possibly the top for modern S&W revolvers.

After that, S&W went to MIM parts and rather poor quality bluing. Todays guns just aren't up to the standard of the last of the forged and high luster blued models like 586.

My brother in law has one, a 6 incher. He adds a scope come deer season and it is a tack driver and has taken a whitetail every year for close to 20 years. And it is just as tight and purty as the day he got it. The only thing he changed was that thick belled bottom presentation grip had to go. He had one made for hi hand from a local guy.
