Question - bullet equal to model "sk ptr m/94 prj m/94" for reloading ..????

I have a question

Is there a source or brand/type of jacketed bullet, or a bullet mould for casting, that would make reloading to be equivalent to this old bullet :

model "sk ptr m/94 prj m/94"

I see an auction on Gunbroker for this ammunition, and the long round nose bullet used in this cartridge is intriguing.

There are several Boolit making companies that make the long round nose projectile. I have some Sierra 160gr jacketed round nose that are close to them but they are expanding type boolits. The M94 shown are probably the 15? grain boolits and later on they went to a 140 grain boolit. They both are FMJ. I know Norma used to make a FMJ boolit for the 6.5 that was the heavier projectile. I had some for my 6.5 Jap. and I believe they made them inall the 6.5mm's. The educated boys on here will know what's what on this one.

I hear that Sierra has discontinued the 160gr semi pointed. Hornady 160gr RN is on suspended production cycle currently. The Hornady is a double diameter type. Is the M/94 similar to the Hornady as in bore riding? Other poss options might be Lapua, Norma maybe Woodleigh? Then of course are the cast or swaged options assuming the bore is in suitable condition for their use. FMJ roundies likely a tough item to find today.

Other than the soft point, these 156 gr. Norma bullets are pretty close to the FMJ bullets used in military ammunition. I think I found them at a gun show.

Your best bet is probably to go with the Hornady 160 RN. Look for them at gunshows, rural gun shops, or garage sales.

I use the Hornady 160 gr. rn and the Hornady 140 gr interlock exclusively. I haven't found boat tail bullets to be of any advantage in my m96 with factory sights.

My CURRENT understanding is that 6.5mm bullets that we use in the Swedes which are of the 135gn to 160gn weight span are NOT being produced by any manufacturer other than PPU and Lapua.

If my understanding is not correct please post the vendors that CURRENTLY have the bullets we use..... IN STOCK. And yes Ive "searched the 'net to no avail.

Im tempted to try cast bullets that I think are in stock at various CAST bullet makers.

I plan to use caste Boolits in my Swedes. I have some J boolits in 6.5mm but for general shooting and maybe hunting, casting may be the way to go. I have 3 Swedes and have yet to shoot any of them. The darn weather is not co-operating. Dutchman is one of the guys, I believe that does most of his loaing with cast and gets very good results. It seems that the Boolit manufacturing companys are going to the high turnover products an the less sales proucts are on the back burner. I understand this to be the case with loaded ammunition, right now.

Here in Canada, I've been able to find the two Hornady bullets I mentioned locally (Alberta Canada), but these may have been whatever the local distributor had in stock. I too have to look through many gunshops to find the bullets I need. I buy all I can find at the same time as usually they're gone next time I look.

.268" 6.5mm Carcano 160gr Round Nose Bullets

could these be resized down thru a .266 die , and then a .264 sizing die ?

I think I saw these in stock at Midway or maybe Midsouth...

I was also wondering about resizing Carcano 160s. You would likely end up with a nose diameter near 0.260". Effectively this means a longer bearing surface. The Sierra 160 also had a longish bearing surface but semi pointed thus reducing this some. Certainly if one was resizing Carcano, loads would have to be worked up carefully keeping lookout for signs of excessive pressure as should always be done anyway.
