I received my C&R in 1999 and still have it although I’ve only acquired 4 rifles in the last 5 years. Like most of you I’ve owned just about all the main types of C&R rifles but zeroed in on the Finnish Mosins. I’ve been a small collector compared to many here. Looking back over my bound book over the years I’ve owned 72 Finnish rifles that now someone else is enjoying. I hope my financially I’m able to rebuilt a collection someday. I was not terribly distraught having to sell off my collection, it was nice to have them and be able to raise money in time of need. Some of them turned out to be really nice investments!
Now... I’ve said all that to ask the question we’ve all wondered. If you could only keep one rifle from your collection which one would it be? I can answer because I’m there.
My holdout is my Bohler-Stahl stepped barrel M24. It is one of those rifles that when you look at it you think “if only it could talk”. I’m sure you all have one like that. It is also a tack driver. It is as accurate is any Swede or Swiss I’ve owned. Plus it's one I thought I'd never get!
So, I ask you all, if push comes to shove which one rifle would you keep?

Guess I'm with you on that - my classic Remington 700 BDL in 30-06 with its Leupold 3X9 scope in high mount rings. I could hunt and protect my family and be downright scary out to about 600 yards.
As to the collection, I suppose my original scoped 1956 Mannlicher Deluxe would come first to save, though the sidemount 1939 PE Tula ex-sniper that I rescoped or the Ski Trooper with bayonet or the scoped SVT-40 would be a close second. Yikes -I can't choose!

If I could only keep one it would be the one that would best defend my family if need be, anything else could be replaced!

I hope the day never comes when I have to choose only one...sigh...that'd be a sad day, indeed!...

My dad's Winchester Model 70 in 300 Winchester Magnum that he gave to me a few Christmas's ago. That one will be given to my son. Of course, he would probably want the SAR-2 with it's 6 hi cap mags and 6000 rounds of ammo. Hmmmm...go with sentimental value, or something I could throw hundreds of rounds down range and hope I kill something to eat. Hmmm...

Winchester.

Just one Mosin? Probably my M28/76 D166.

But, then, my 91/59 came from Dad...

Can't we make it one per family member? Lol I can't decide. And I can have more kids if push comes to shove. :)
I'd pass out trying.

If it were one Mosin Nagant, then it would be the 1940 Tula DDR. The very first one that brought me to ruin. I have made it a promise. I am going to ruin it, buy putting rounds down range until I die. It's doomed....ruin me will you!

This.
So, one of my ARs.

If it was pistols only, a Gen.3 Glock 21 with attached Surefire light.

If I could only keep one of my rifles it wouldn't be any of the mil surp rifles I have collected. It would be my Winchester Model 67A that my father gave to me 28 years ago on Christmas morning when I was 10. No question about it.

AR? I built my 6.8SPC. Until I get to the point of loading my own ammo, the AR stays.

I have plenty of 7.62x54r.

I'm more consistant with the 300WM. I have a scope. I can see my target. :)

Nice!

6.8 is EASY to reload, and gratifying. I tool my last buck with my 6.8 (Ko-Tonics build with ACOG), with phenomenal terminal performance. All of my 6.8 training ammo is reloads. Actually, I train 99% of the time with 5.56, and the rest with 6.8. However, guess which one is configured for immediate use, and zeroed for my property? That's right, my blood-thirsty friends...

ACOG my thought as well. Reports from the range/field are consistant as far as I have heard. Saveing as we...type. :)

By the way. My latest 1940 Izhevsk hits left of center. Nice COM groups. That's about 4" for me. Not the greatest shooter, but effective.

BB91, nice M27!

Rocker,
In one of my greatest gun related coups ever, I was given a used 4x ACOG about four years ago. The damn thing is bomb-proof, and I have a mini-red dot mounted on a 45 degree mount slightly forward of the ejection port on my 6.8 for close-in work. Added weight is negligible, and the whole thing is just beautifully in synch. Ah, firepower...*sigh*
