someone jump in and correct me if i am wrong, but that looks like a CZ-24 (.380ACP) made in 1927...

That is a CZ-27. A CZ-24 will have a rounded slide.

I believe it's a factory production date. Note the one on my '24.

you're right, the angled cocking serrations through me off. i thought (incorrectly) that 24s had angled cocking serrations and 27s had straight ones

Actually, early 27's did have angled serrations. I have 2 that do, the rest I have, starting at S/N 32XXX, don't.

The early 27's and the transitional 27's have the slanted serrations. I have only seen two examples of the Czech police proofed CZ 27's and one postwar proofed pistol and I wasn't able to get any of them :(
