Good afternoon, Ive been trying to remove the barrel bands on 2 of my swedish mausers and am at wits end. Ive tried the brass case technique, flathead screw driver, and just plain old fingers and the springs barely budge let alone move the band. What do I need to do to get these suckers off? Ive gotten other swedish mausers out of their stocks with little to no problems, so this one has me puzzled.

there is probably old, hard grease behind/under the springs. you may have to use a clamp with suitable protections, in order to compress the spring enuff. after getting the bands off, remove the springs from the stock and thoroughly clean the recess. seasons greetings!
