The Poles have a P64 in 9X18 Makarov, it is not a Mak, just shoots the same caliber.
About the size of a PPK or HSc, it may not be as highly regarded as a Mak, but the P-64 is still a very fine pistol.

oh god man, do not call it a makarov....There are people on some boards who will litterally eat your liver for saying such things. I called it (and still do) a polish mak, and they decended on me. Luckily, the liver can heal itslef, and mine is ok despite the damage done to it.

The folks who really went ballistic over calling a P-64 a Makarov haven't posted much to the new forum.

But sellers will sometimes label a 9x18 pistol a Makarov because of the Makarov's reputation, and that's why some guys got understandably sore.

Please don't eat my liver and I know its not a makarov but the one I put on layaway the other day says Polish Makarov right on the slide. Im not sure if they all have that on the slide but if they do I can see why people could get confused.

Not to worry, I don't even like liver! It may say Polish and Makarov on it, and I can see where that would deceive a lot of people, but it only shoots the Makarov caliber. Its not made like one.

It would be like calling a P-38 or a Browning Hi-Power a "Luger" because it uses 9mm Luger cartridges.

It is very easy to get confused if you do not do your own research; more so when you buy uniformed.

I think the Makarov gets the top shelf in my cabinet. Yes I own a Polish P-64, but it fits my wife's hand just right for her carry weapon, so "Don't be a girlie mahnn" as Awnod would say, and get a Mighty Mak to carry and leave the P-64's to the .... :D :D :p  Wow, It is easy to stir it up, isn't it IJ70? I don't argue with the guys at the shows on this matter, but they say, "It says so right on the slide". I just keep walking, too many guns to gander at and so little time. :) TTH and all the P-64 guys, I'm just funnin' trying to get a laugh or two. BTW, has anyone seen the "guns" on TTH, why he could pop my head like a pimple, so I say again, I am just kidding. :p But they are two different animals, and even though mine is quite accurate, the Mak is the best.
