Hey all,
Last night, they were talking about the largest Banzai charge of the war (Saipan, I think). There are two seperate shots of dead soldiers, each with what looks like a bayonet affixed to a stick. Not sure if they were pole bayonets or something made up on the spot by troops.
Anyone else see that?

Australian pole bayonet for refrence only! :D

I noticed that too. Passed quickly, but looked to me like a regular bayonet attached to a bamboo pole; but if could have been most any vintage bayonet.

I fortunately saw it right away, actually they showed 2 of them. At first I thought it was an expedient method of retaining a bayonet on a rifle they were showing, then the second shot showed a pole with a tied on bayonet so maybe the first shot was the same. Either way, it was rather interesting.
