Persian 8mm carbine bbl

Have a question regarding a Persian 8mm carbine barrel. In looking at the sight ladder it appears to be a standard Persian rifle ladder. The bed of the sight that is on the bbl is the one I removed the ladder for cleaning. I was under the impression that carbines always had short sight ladders such as the Swede 94/14, Chilean short rifle and the Argentine artilary or engineers carbines. Can anyone tell me if the ladder that came off the carbine barrel is the correct one?. Thanks,Frank

The Persian M1949 and VZ30 carbines have long sights. Photos are labeled.

Hello Frank: Agree with Bill concerning the long rear sight. Mine has always caused me to wonder though. The bolt, barrel and receiver are all in Persian. The sight ranges are in English?

Hi Tom,

In the M1949 carbine production there is a point where the farsi sight numbers change to western numbers. There is a thread here somewhere that tries to narrow that down by serial number.

Yours looks to be a VZ30 that had a later Iranian sight leaf installed. Iranian parts have a "happy face" instead of a circle Z.

Bill
Bill: Thanks for the input. I should have thought of that. Had a Persian 98/29 that had all the "Smiley Face" proof marks on it.

Hi Tom,
Do you still have it? There're hard to find.

No John, I traded it for a package deal of a K88, Spanish 1916 S.R. and Phoenix .22 Pistol.
Bought this from Simpsons ltd and thinking to have it installed on a 1937 VZ24 action that I have had for many years. When the eyes start to go move the sights closer. Thanks for your help.Frank
