This 50 Ga. drum of Napalm was found deep inside the "Wildcat Bowl" of Peleliu's ridges. Used to supply the Naval Ronsom (sp?) flamethrower emplaced in LVT's. Found near the bent and curved bayonet that I described earlier...

I have found your postings to be much more interesting and informative than the show just run on the military channel about diving on the wrecks at Truk. mag

Yes, thanks for posting all these great pictures and text. Talk about forgotten...

How many people in this country could tell you where Peleliu is and what the historical significance of it might be?

I recall reading William Manchester's "Goodbye Darkness" many years ago and he addressed that point IIRC, by pointing out the deteriorated condition of the US monument there in the late 70s.

Seems like he said the monument said something about not forgetting the sacrifice, but the words were almost unreadable and FORGET looked like FO ET.
