Hello all. I'm in Afghanistan and obviously don't have contact with my reference material. When did the Pattern 1907 scabbards switch from the round button to the tear drop shaped button or vice versa.
Thanks.

the tear drop are the early ones then the large round and then the small round. the earliest have in internal chape not the external of the later ones, for a short period of time teh UK made with with stitching up the front and back, the Australains did the same but post WWI. THe only other variation is the late WWII ones without rivets. From India you will also get them with pig skin or brass fittings. Sorry not got access to dates right now

Bangle, Skennerton quotes the British WD as approving several changes to the P1907 scabbard to facilitate war-time production on November 19, 1915, including the change from the tear-drop frog button to a round design... this was implemented by the various contractors over a period of time so there is no definitive date for the change but there you have a reference.
