Brands of primers showing up that I have never seen before

They still want 9 cents/primer for 5,000.

An interesting glimpse into the manufacturing world for these.

The humidity in the rooms where they spread the paste into the pellet moulds must be hellishly high, don't think they would want that stuff drying out around the edges.

I also wondered about the color of the compound, is that neon green universal or partially so?
Have seen primers with other colors (such as in the previous post where it appears red) but always wondered if that is a protective film or foil.
Never quite worked up the stones to try and rip a live one apart so really don't know.............

Many primer mixtures use metals. Lead is is a common. Perhaps the color is derived from that.
Google factoid with metals highlighted for the most common mixture.

Priming compound is a mechanical mixture of lead styphnate, antimony sulfide, barium nitrate, and other chemicals. This combination will create heat and gas when struck sharply.

Yes, that might be it, IIRC, lead styphnate is the most common.
Reason I wondered is that the neon green priming compound seem to be in every US brand of .22 ammo.
