Just wanted to throw a heart felt "well done" out to the people of San Diego county and all who are impacted by the current emergency caused by the fires. Keep up the good work!
And thanks for showing that New Orleans was just an abomination and not typical America.

I agree. I got an email yesterday from an athlete I used to coach here in northern Cal who goes to school at San Diego State. School was dismissed for the week so she and a lot of the other nursing students were volunteering at various evac points, most often the stadium. Tremendous spirit of cooperation there.

Ditto the above! We've been lucky here in Santa Barbara County. We've got fires going but nothing like down south. All the smoke & ash sure do play hell with the sinuses!
Next will be the rain & mudslides with maybe a quake as an extra treat. What scares me is we haven't had a tremor (that I've felt) in years - that's not good. Maybe we should let Mexico have this place back!

Last quake I felt was in Dec of '03 (I think). I was at work & spent the whole day resetting the earthquake devices on all my elevators.
It's good to have small quakes every now & then - it relieves the geological stress. These quiet periods are worrysome.

Raym, My hats off to you sir,for being the first to convey "Well Done" to all those who are participating or who are affected by the California fires.Your message conveys what a lot
of our board members feel, although like myself have not put in print.

Charlie

P.S. I`ve been watching your "Tonite`s Movie" the last couple of nites. The routine is not
unlike watching the evening movie aboard ship at #2 hatch, weather and seas permitting.
Now,those lucky guys on a carrier probably didn`t have that problem, just rolled some planes
out of the way on the hanger deck, maybe even had Ice Cream!

We watched our movies on one of the mess decks and we did have ice cream from time to time.

I have my radio on the fire news at work each day & those heros really are kicking some butt on these fires. God bless them!

Thanks for the comments Charlie! I'm glad y'all are enjoying the videos. I spent most of 2 days watching these on you tube and thought everyone might enjoy see some of them. I just wish I could read the title and descriptions!
When I was on the America most every night after the shift change we would get a bag of popcorn and a coke and kick back in the squadron shop and watch a movie. It was a good way to top off the day!

I had a buddy on the America. It & the Kennedy were new ships when I was serving on the Independence.
