A buddy of mine found this in a Cabellas local to him and knew I’d be interested in it. I called them up and purchased it and it arrived today.

It’s a 1937 Izhevsk with original matching parts. I didn’t pictures of all the small pets, but everything is Izhevsk marked. Fonts all match the rifle’s serial number in style. Stock looks to have the correct proofs.

The Izhevsk crest is ground off, and no Finnish or import marks are present. Likely SCW rifle, but who’s to say for sure.

Either way, I’m happy to have it!

Interesting about the removed crest. I have seen it before. Not common.

How often does that occur with the SCW rifles? One in 20? 50? 100?

Of course, I am assuming it is SCW. Really looks the part

Very nice, and to think it was luck of the draw!
It isn't easy at all to find one in that original condition. I would hold onto that one, especially if the bore looks like the rest of her.
Thanks for posting.

I think it's a SCW too, and I've seen a lot of what I considered likely SCW Izhevsks that had it done.

Whether it happened in Spain or over here, it was a thing.

Very nice! Yes, original serial numbers. If the rod is Izhevsk, too, odds are it's a completely original rifle. (y)
