Hi, trying to determine what was the original Izhevsk font like in early/mid 1930ies.
Do these numbers look factory original? From one hand I have my doubts since at least from what I've seen Izhevsk had big and bulky kind of bloated font in that time period.
On another hand the rifle in question is finn captured and on occasions when Finns did restamp mosin parts there are usually either line outs or obvious excessive grinding present and this one doesn't have either. Also force matching two parts is too much work for Finns, they wouldn't bother.
What you think?

Looks original to me from the pictures, but can't be sure until you see it in person. The floor plate shows the serial stamped through the bluing and the bolt doesn't seem to show grinding near the root like you would see on a Finn match, leads me to believe it is good to go.

It's consistent with the font on my 38 Izhevsk.

Pavlin, I can't see the pictures as they are too small. But here are some pictures of a factory matching 1930 Izhevsk Dragoon for comparison. Hope it helps.

jjjx,
Do you have a thread showing this rifle you posted here?
If so, a link would be greatly appreciated!
From what I can see, the wear is very like my 1939. mine too all original matching Except bolt. (Stock marked 1939 too)

Best,
Rich.

Thanks guys for all pictures. The problem is that the seller won't make addn'l close up photos and to make matters worse Izhevsk used few different fonts throughout the years and many times the styles will ovelap in the same year
