Looking for someone who has owned and shot both pistols. Are the two pistols comparable in workmanship and accuracy or is their a marked difference between the two countries guns. thanks, jlp.

The finish on the Polish seems much better. You may also want to consider the style of the safety that's been added for import purposes. The one on my Polish seems much simpler and less intrusive. The ones I've seen on the Romies look big and clunky, but may be more ergonomic if you actually want to use the safety. I know the safety on the Polish is easily removable, and the hole could easily be closed. Haven't tried removing the one on the Romie.

Polish VS. Romanian Tokarev

Hello Bph9. I have seen several Polish Toks at shows. I own a Romanian and a Norinco. I have to agree with Pogue. The Polish Toks are some of the best made that I have seen! The earlier ones have the same slide serrations as the WWII Russian Toks. The safeties are small and fit fairly flush. The Romys have a big safety. The Romys ARE well made though, their finish just isn't as "refined" as the Polish ones! Mine are fairly accurate but I can't vouch for the accuracy of the Polish ones though! If you want a Tokarev, then definately get a ROMY! You won't be sorry. Hope this helps.

I've got a Polish, Chicom (Norinco), and two Romanians. All seem about the same for accuracy (very good). The Polish is the best finished and the best quality. Nevertheless I like the Romanians much better. I really like the placement of the safety on the Romanians as I can actually disengage it quickly as opposed to the other two. If I had to have only one TT-33 it would be the Romanian.

I have owned a Chinese 54-1, a Pole and I just got a Romanian which I have not shot.

For finish they are all similar, althought the Rommy I have is really almost perfect. Very nice and the barrel is beautiful. I gotta shoot it.

I sold off the Chinese gun because it shot the first round from the mag about a foot or more high at 25 meters, rest of the mag going where the sights were. I shot some stuff with it, ground squirrels and some butcher stock, but found having to run one into the dirt before shooting for keeps a pain.

My Pole is a razor. Very accurate on varmints and I've put a number of butcher critters in the freezer with it and it has become a favorite of mine.

If the Romanian pistol is equal to it I'll be very happy with it, too. It looks very nice, that's for sure.

I've got two Polish and one Romanian, all three have the Romanian style safety. One of the Polish and the Romanian are in excellent condition. I don't see any difference in quality or finish, if anything the Romanian is the tightest and smoothest. The excellent condition Polish hasn't been fired yet, its a Christmas gift to my son. With both Polish pistols the mags are hard to insert and don't pop free when released. Although after inserting and removing one mag in my shooter Polish over and over it now works fairly smoothly and you can see where it drags on the mag catch "i assume" thats what is making the scratch on the mag.

Just a heads up I ordered 4 extra mags from AIM for $7.95 each and 3 of the 4 were the landyard loop style marked 02 which makes me believe they are of Hungarian origin. One of the 4 doesn't fit any of my 3 pistols, don't know how an out of spec mag snuck through. Oh well I have a few spare mag parts now, I'm not paying to ship an $8 item back.
