I have entered a post on the other forum as well but I do understand what you are saying mate.It will bring you no joy, Ned...
It says they were used to develop the sniper concept... they played with them... used them as a training aid in the absence of something better suited than a HT, until they eventually trialled several rifles for the replacement of the HT. The rifles trialled were H & K G3 SG1. Austrian SSG 69, Mauser 66, and the Parker Hale.
Yep understand,So... from this you can see they used the Omark to develop their doctrine... better than carrying a stick I suppose, plus they were cheap, available and took service ammunition as well as being accurate.
The rifles as trialled are clearly stated in detail.... Sorry, mate... the Omark wasn't one of them. Possibly only because the manufacturers refused to stick a magazine on them... they would never have been accepted for the trial without. They simply didn't meet the requirement.
