It's a WWI era German "ersatz" bayonet that went to Turkey where it was shortened.

Len S is correct. The split muzzle ring will allow it to fit on a Gew88 that still has the barrel jacket.

SG 88/98, fits both Gew 88 and Gew 98. It used to look like this (top one):

Wow very interesting, thanks guys, is the crown proof Turkish? Or is it just the fact that it was shortened? Thanks

The crown proof is German. The Turks shortened the bayonets and scabbards and substituted an oval frog stud in place of the tear drop shaped German one. The serial # was also applied bu the Turks.
