You have a camouflage painted WWI U.S. made Model of 1917 helmet. The camo. painting was usually done after the war by doughboys returning home. The WWI forum is a good place for it.

Not to break up the party, but that's a British helmet. The chinstrap bales are attached with split rivets, American rivets are hammered and domed.

Paint looks pretty vivid for being ninety, but you never know. Look to see if there is rust pitting UNDER the paint, that will give some more info.
