Numrich appears to be mis-handling this hacking. They sent a letter out saying that concerned customers, whose private information was stolen, need to contact Experian to put a credit hold on your account. That's all my letter said. I just called them and the agent I talked to repeated that suggestion.
The fact is that Experian is just one of three credit companies that you should contact. This suggestion on their part does absolutely nothing to scan the web and protect the mis-use of your stolen information against you in identity theft. We need one of those companies that scan everything to look for mis-use of the stolen information to prevent identity theft. Numrich did not offer that. Many other companies whose info was hacked offer this. If you got a letter, I would call Numrich and demand more protection.

No big deal, this can happens to the biggest and best sellers. All the time. I got a new card the same day I got the letter. The companies who write the software could probably do better. As for the Numrich letter, that was poorly written. They said way to much and scared the heck out of people. Two sentences would have been adequate. People dont know crap about this stuff. Like the Covid panic.

Same here, charged $200 worth of food on Uber Eats. My card caught it and contacted me. Card cancelled and new one issued, then I got the letter from Numrich.

Oddly enough someone at a gas station skimmer had already stolen my card info a couple months back so I already changed cards.
I'm not sure what people expect numrich to do? Offer them free stuff? Yes it's a minor inconvenience but as usual people want to ask "how can this benefit me?" Rather than take 3 minutes to order a new card.
No doubt we'll see some vulture comment about a class action before too long. Always happens anytime a gun store gets hacked.. "how can this benefit me at their expense".
Just keep an eye on your card balance(as you should anyways) and if any fraud happens then get a new card.

No doubt done as advised. For the same reason McDonald's had to put "hot liquid" on the side of a coffee cup.

havent heard any thing from numrich but my card was hacked to the toon of $890 at walmart anout a week and a half ago DELIVERY ADDRESS was the same as where i live???? Wal mart stopped transaction didnt look right to them. i took my new card and removed 3 digit code on back .for drive thru s .capital one says they have something called ENCO for online purchases it creates a new card number every time you use it online will see if it works

McDonald's had that one coming. She had a good case.
As for Numrich. I got hit too, mid April, but since I get text notification for each transaction the fraudulent charges were voided and new card ordered within 20 minutes of it happening.

I don't think I have bought anything from Numrich in ages. So it likely didn't affect me per se. But I have had numerous security breeches on other businesses forcing me to change passwords, etc. I have gotten new cards when I suspected I might have had the information stolen though. The last time this happened was before Fry's Electronics closed down. I bought something from the store and within a hour a whole slew of charges started showing up. They were trying to hide the charges by making hundreds of little $1.xx to $3.xx charges until the card was maxed out. I immediately contacted the CC company and they closed out the card, removed the charges and sent me a new card. I suspect someone at Frys had compromised the systems or was using a skimmer.
Anyway, you almost have to check your accounts daily to avoid scams anymore.

I got the letter last week and about an hour ago a $127.89 charge was run in a walmart across the country from me. Between numrich, Target, the US government, and all the other company's getting hacked and telling me to contact experian, I've just gotten desensitized to it all. This is the first time I can pinpoint one hack to a credit card charge though.
If you got the letter and don't have any charges yet, please just replace your card. Seems like the hackers (or whoever they sold the info to) are running down the list now.

wow you guys have me worried! I looked i made a purchase from them back in January i wonder if i should be worried and go through my cards
While I generally agree with your statement for me it has been a little more than a minor inconvenience. I’ve had my card stolen maybe 3 times, maybe more in my lifetime. Either I’ve caught it fast or the monitoring from my CC company catches it fast. A quick phone call and the card is cancelled and new one ordered but when you have your card linked to many places you either shop at or pay bills with now you have to take the time to go through a list of places that you will need to update with the new card or wind up being delinquent on a payment or something along those lines. When it’s just a card and not a whole identity it is irksome and fixable but maybe a little more than a minor inconvenience.
What gets me is that no one ever tried to go after these people. I guess I understand maybe it wouldn’t be worth the CC companies’ time to investigate but until people get in serious trouble nothing will ever curb criminals from continuing to do this. The last time mine was stolen I knew exactly when and where the person had tried to use the card. My logical mind thinks an investigator could contact the establishment and ask for security footage and possibly link that to a car, license plate, etc. It may result in nothing but it may result in an arrest, restitution, prosecution, etc. I guess it’s just easier for them to eat the cost, close the card and send a new one. Criminals continue to operate.
