I have recently purchased a North Korean AKM bayonet and scabbard, but the scabbard has had some oxidation(rust). How should I proceed with restoring this piece? Blue Wonder to take off the rust? What cold blue would best match the North Korean dark blue finish? Thanks, Starchamber

most things like that should actually be left alone . once you reblue uit its worthless to a collector. use oil on it and no abrasives then leave it alone

You are no "Junior Member", sir. Since making this post, I reached the same conclusion...I do not think it has much collector value anyway, but I hit it with Blue Wonder, which attacks the rust and not the bluing and then oiled it with a little Break-free...done. Thanks and "un-monkeyed-with" is always best.

if the rust is not real deep, use 000 steel wool and wd40 or mineral spirits and lots of elbow grease. i've done this to lightly rusted firearms, removes the rust and not the blue, looked very nice afterwards.
