[5th Batt WWCT]

Just got a Mk2 sight, thinking of fitting it to one of my No5s, what you guys think, the 1945 or the 46?

1945 as you could promote that it was from war time necessity to put on the Mk2, whereas with the war finished in 46 it was back to the normal sight.

Are you referring to the 300/600yd backsight? If so, I'd never have thought one would have been put on a No.5, I like sight and it seems quite reasonable for use on a No.5 but I've never seen one on a No.5 or even a suggestion. ed

Yep, thats the one.
I'm still playing with the idea, seems a shame to take off what may be the original sight, but i dont see many with them fitted.

Ah, thanks Enfield Trader. I was not aware that a stamped backsight was made for the No.5. I have had experience with the stamped Mk.3/4 backsights on the No.4 and have not much good to say of them other than their being sometimes authentic - too fragile and the battle peep being too easily 'butt-stroked' off by another rifle placed less than meticulously alongside. Still, interesting and an education for me. I should likely be embarrassed for not knowing about the 'Mk.2 backsight' for the No.5 but I'm relatively new to the LE. ed
